Checkups And Cleanings
One of the most effective ways of maintaining a healthy smile for many years is to regularly visit Dr. Espinoza for checkups and cleanings. It is best to come in every 3-6 months, so we can thoroughly clean your teeth and examine your mouth. We use specialized dental equipment to help remove plaque and tartar, which can harm your teeth and gums if ignored — leading to cavities, decay, and more. By cleaning it off before it becomes worse, you are preventing the need for more serious cosmetic and restorative procedures in the future.
Once your teeth are cleaned, Dr. Espinoza will closely examine your mouth to see if there is anything amiss, like tooth decay, chips, cracks, and more. She will also inspect your gums for signs of gingivitis and other diseases. If she finds anything out of the ordinary, she will develop a plan tailored specifically to your needs.
Scaling & Root Planing
If we find bacteria deeper in your teeth — and underneath your gums — we can clean your teeth by scaling and root planing. This is a two-step process in which we carefully remove plaque and tartar from your teeth’s roots, under the gumline. Next, we smooth the root surface, which helps prevent bacteria from settling back in the future.
Oral Cancer Screenings
As part of your regularly scheduled checkups, Dr. Espinoza will conduct an oral cancer screening, looking for the signs of this disease. The frequent signs include lesions, ulcers, sores, and bleeding. She will keep you completely in the loop at every step.
Bruxism
Persistent teeth grinding, also known as bruxism, can severely damage your teeth. It often occurs unconsciously while sleeping, so it is tough to know it is even occurring. Not only can this grinding and clenching be hard on your teeth, but it can also cause your jaw to become unbalanced. The most common symptoms are chipped and cracked teeth, a sore jaw, and headaches. We can treat bruxism by making you a custom nightguard to wear while you sleep. This serves as a barrier to prevent your teeth from grinding.
Children’s Dentistry
We see children as young as three years old, and we love the prospect of being able to work with them for many years to come. In addition to providing checkups and cleanings, we also offer dental sealants and fluoride treatments to help ensure their teeth stay strong and healthy as they grow older. By visiting the dentist from an early age, kids become more comfortable at their checkups, leading to a willingness to maintain their teeth.
